Paul Rice Presents Seminar
Topic/Karen Adams Foxman Moderator
Partner
Paul Rice recently made a presentation at the
Volusia County Bar
Association’s annual family law seminar. Mr. Rice explained the
prevailing law regarding the competing claims of divorcing spouses
to a jointly owned marital home. In many cases, one of the spouses
owned the home as his or her individual pre-marital home and then
deeded it to the other spouse jointly during the marriage. In other
cases, the jointly owned marital home may have been purchased with
one of the spouses non-marital or pre-marital funds. In these or
similar situations, the divorce attorney may be able to save the
house or its equity for the aggrieved spouse under legal or
equitable principles. For a complete discussion on this topic, feel
free to contact Mr. Rice or his family law staff for a courtesy copy
of his written presentation.
Mr. Rice is a past president of the Volusia County Bar Association,
and he currently serves as the chair of the Association’s family law
committee. The Association consists of over six hundred lawyers and
is headquartered in Daytona Beach, Florida.
Karen Adams Foxman served as the
moderator at this seminar and also spoke on the topic "Injunctions:
All the Rage". Ms. Foxman is currently the President of the Young Lawyers' Division of
the Volusia County Bar Association.
