Paul Rice, in his capacity as the chairman of the Volusia County Bar Association’s Family Law Section, recently conducted a meeting of the Section at the Volusia County Courthouse Annex in Daytona Beach, Florida on May 4, 2006.

The meeting was attended by family law Judges Shawn Briese, Patrick Kennedy and James Foxman as well as Chief Judge William Parsons, General Magistrate Jean Dwyer and Family Court Administrator Robert Sterner. Also in attendance were about twenty family law attorneys and several court house employees.

The Family Law Section consists of attorneys whose primary areas of practice are divorce, paternity, adoption, injunctions, dependency and related areas. The purpose of the meetings is to discuss issues confronting the judges, court personnel and attorneys and to improve the efficiency and delivery of legal services to the litigants.
