Dorothy Hukill Joins Rice &
Rose Law
The
law firm of Rice & Rose is pleased to announce that Dorothy
Hukill will be joining the firm in an "of counsel" capacity.
Ms. Hukill will be moving her office to 222 Seabreeze
Boulevard, Daytona Beach on December 1, 2005. She will also
be utilizing the firm's New Smyrna Beach office located at
102 South Riverside Drive.
Robin Kent-Gardner Hired As
Legal Assistant
Robin
Kent-Gardner has been hired as a Legal Assistant with the
law firm of Rice & Rose. Ms. Gardner received her Bachelors
Degree in Management Information Systems from Barry
University and her Paralegal Degree from Southern Business
College. Robin will be working with the firm's Business and
Litigation Practice Group.

Shanika
Williams has been hired as a Legal Assistant with the law
firm of Rice & Rose, 222 Seabreeze Blvd. Daytona Beach with
satellite offices in Palm Coast and New Smyrna Beach. Ms.
Williams graduated from New Smyrna Beach High School and is
earning her Associates Degree in Legal Studies at Daytona
Beach Community College. She will be working with the firm's
Real Estate Practice Group.

Jamie Bapisteller with the law

a two day examination. Ms. Bapisteller works in the business law

Patti Humphreys, Legal
Administrator with the law firm of Rice & Rose, attended the
Association of Legal Administrators Conference in Orlando,
Florida. This regional educational program for administrators,
which was held November 5th & 6th, offered advanced courses in
various legal management areas. Ms. Humphreys has been with the
firm of Rice & Rose continuously since 1988.

Patricia Bonnema has been hired
as a legal assistant with the firm of Rice & Rose, 222 Seabreeze

in Palm Coast. Ms. Bonnema graduated from Mainland High School
and earned her associate degree in Legal Studies from Daytona
Beach community College having graduated with honors. She will
be working with the firm's real estate practice group.
Staff Member Attends Federal
Wage-and-Hour Seminar
Patti Humphreys, Legal Administrator, recently
attended a seminar on the Federal Wage-and-Hour laws, which were
revised in 2004. The seminar focused on those revisions and the
Fair Labor Standards Act, including the distinction between
exempt and non-exempt employees.
Paul Rice Awarded AV Rating
Paul Rice has received the AV
Rating from Martindale-Hubbell. The AV Rating is awarded to
lawyers who have reached the highest level of skill and
integrity in the profession.
James Rose Appointed to Ormond
Beach Board
James Rose was recently appointed
to the Board of Adjustments and Appeals of the City of Ormond
Beach by City Counsel person, Scott Selis. The Board of
Adjustments and Appeals conducts hearings on determinations of
the Chief Building Official where an individual may allege there
has been an error. The Board also hears appeals and requests for
variances to any of the city's adopted standard codes relative
to building and construction.
New Mayor Re-appoints Paul
Rice as Chairman
Mayor Yvonne Scarlett-Golden
recently re-appointed Paul Rice as the chairman of the City of
Daytona Beach's Nuisance Abatement Board for another two year
term. Mr. Rice was originally appointed to chair the Board in 2000
by then Mayor Bud Asher. The Board is quasi-judicial in nature and
hears cases brought by the police department against properties
alleged to be nuisances due to activities such as drugs or
prostitution. As charmain, Mr. Rice conducts the hearings and
rules on motions and admissibility of evidence.
Paul Rice Recognized as
All-American Triathlete by USAT
Paul Rice received All-American
honors for 2003 from USAT which is the U.S. national governing
body for the sport of triathlon. Mr. Rice competes in the 45-49
age group. 2004 has been a successful year thus far with an
overall victory at the local Y-Tri Triathlon with over 200
competitors. He
also won the 2004 series championship for his age group at the
Beaches Triathlon series in Jacksonville and is currently leading
his age group series competition in Clermont, Florida, which is
the largest sprint series in the nation.
Mr. Rice was also recently named to the Volusia County Beach
Patrol's competition team for the upcoming Surf Life Saving
Association national championships which will be hosted in Daytona
Beach this year. Mr. Rice will compete in the run-swim-run and 2
kilometer run competitions.
Jim Rose Completes
Inaugural Leadership Seminar Program
Jim
Rose recently completed the Inaugural Leadership Seminar Program
sponsored by the Ormond Beach Chamber of Commerce. The program
consisted of lectures on all facets of the City of Ormond Beach.
Mr. Rose is also a 1990 graduate of Leadership Daytona, sponsored
by the Daytona Halifax Chamber of Commerce.

Gator Club of Volusia County
Installs Jim Rose As President
Jim Rose was recently installed
as President of the Gator Club of Volusia County at the 29th
Annual Gator Gathering, attended by some 600 people, held at the
Daytona International Speedway. A 1982 graduate of the University
of Florida Law School, Mr. Rose will oversee the activities of the
Club for a two year period.

Paul E. Rice, Jr. Sworn In As
President of the Volusia County Bar Association
Paul E. Rice, Jr. was sworn in as
President of the Volusia County Bar Association on July 31, 2001.
Mr. Rice was previously on the board of directors and will serve a
one year term as president. The Association has more than 500
lawyer members and is headquartered in Daytona Beach, Florida. Get

Paul E. Rice, Jr. Elected as Captain of
Quarterback Club
Paul
E. Rice, Jr. was recently elected as
Captain of the Daytona Beach Quarterback Club for the 2003 season.
The Quarterback Club is an organization with over 300 members
which meets during the football season. The group meets weekly to
have dinner, talk football, enjoy camaraderie and listen to
speakers such as Lou Holtz, Bobby Bowden, Steve Spurrier, Archie
Manning and Larry Czonka. This years speakers are being scheduled
and already include the likes of Lee Corso, Ron Zook, Terry Bowden
and Larry Coker.
