Bonamo, pictured here, has been promoted to partnership with
the firm. Mr. Bonamo has been with Rice & Rose for four
years and has earned a reputation as a well prepared and
skilled trial attorney.
Rice

Spaghetti Dinner which was held on January 31, 2009. This
event, which is held each year at the New Smyrna Beach High
School, is organized and put on by the New Smyrna Beach
Community and Alumni Providing Scholarships.

Ashleigh
Drexler, a paralegal with Rice & Rose, graduated from the
University of Central Florida on May 2, 2008 with her
Bachelor of Science in Pre-Law/Legal Studies, while
maintaining a 3.5 grade point average. Ms. Drexler is
planning to attend law school next August.
Paul
Rice, as chair of the Volusia County Bar Association's
Family Law Section, hosted a luncheon meeting on May 20,
2008 for the purpose of creating a volunteer guardian ad
litem program for custody cases in Volusia County.

Associate
Attorney Karen Adams Foxman recently attended a five day seminar
in Orlando for certification in mediation. After satisfying
the additional criteria for certification, Ms. Foxman hopes
to offer this additional service in her family law practice. 
Philip
Bonamo was host/moderator for the Criminal Law Continuing
Legal Education Seminar held on February 23, 2007 at the
Daytona Beach International Airport.
Paul
Rice recently received All-American honors for the fourth
consecutive year by USA Triathlon, despite a limited racing
schedule in 2006. The sanctioning body for triathlon honors
those athletes who rank in the top five percent of their age
group nationally.

championship (this time in football) of their alma mater,
the University of Florida Fighting Gators.
Jim
Rose was selected "Member of the Year" by the Ormond Beach
Chamber of Commerce at its annual meeting held at Oceanside
Country Club on January 19th. Mr. Rose continues to be the
attorney for the Chamber. 
The
Volusia-Flagler Association of Women Lawyers (VFAWL) hosted
a luncheon at the Daytona Beach International Airport on
Friday, September 8, 2006, featuring Supreme Court Justice
Barbara Pariente as guest speaker.
Karen
Adams Foxman was recently sworn in to serve as President of the
Volusia-Flagler Association of Women Lawyers from July 2006
until July 2007. Ms. Foxman had previously been serving and
Vice President on the same board, and prior to that, as a
member on the Board of Directors.

Paul Rice was recently recognized by USATriathlon, the national
governing body for the sport, as an All-American for the third
year in a row. Mr. Rice was ranked 27th nationally out of almost
2000 ranked triathletes in the 45-49 age group for the 2005
season.
March
21st was "Justice Day" for the Southeast Volusia Chamber of
Commerce's Leadership Class 2006 which was sponsored by Rice &
Rose Law. The event was held at the Volusia County Courthouse in
DeLand, Florida.
Jim
Rose spoke before some ninety members and guests of the
Volusia Manufacturers Association on February 23, 2006. Mr.
Rose spoke about current trends in employment law.
Jim
Rose has been appointed to the following positions:
President of Tiger Bay of Volusia County, a non-partisan
political club that meets monthly to hear speakers regarding
politics and current events; Legal Counsel for the Ormond
Beach Chamber of Commerce; Board of Directors of the United
Way of Volusia and Flagler County.
Ashleigh Cio has been hired as a
Legal Assistant with the law firm of Rice & Rose, 222 Seabreeze
Blvd., Daytona Beach with satellite offices in Palm Coast and
New Smyrna Beach. Ms. Cio graduated from Seabreeze High School
and earned her degree in Legal Assisting and her AA degree in
General Education at Daytona Beach Community College. Ms. Cio is
currently working toward her BA in Legal Studies at the
University of Central Florida. She will be working with the
firm's family law practice group.

Paul Rice recently made a presentation at the Volusia County Bar
Association’s annual family law seminar. Mr. Rice explained the
prevailing law regarding the competing claims of divorcing
spouses to a jointly owned marital home.

The RICE
& ROSE law
office building design, located at 222 Seabreeze Boulevard, Daytona Beach,
is reminiscent of the architecture of famed Florida architect
Addison Mizner, who was prominent in the Boca Raton and Palm Beach
communities during the Florida “boom” in the 1920's. The style is
probably best characterized as Mediterranean or, simply, “Florida”
because of the popularization of the style in Florida by Mr. Mizner. The
structure is two stories and approximately 10,500 square feet under
roof.
